2-point bracing is shown, but this page also applies to 3-point bracing. Both 2- and 3-point gusset plates shop weld to the top flange of the beam. The angle braces field bolt to the shared gusset plate.
Why square? The corner of the gusset plate that the angle horizontal brace frames across is a square corner (not cut) -- hence the name " Gusset 2 Point Square ."
