The gusset for a W tee or wide flange or double-angle horizontal brace to a beam's top flange is designed per " Gusset One Member Square " locks. The brace field bolts to its gusset plate per " Brace Connection To Gusset " locks. The gusset shop welds to the beam's top flange per " HB Conn 2 " locks.

The horizontal brace field bolts to the gusset plate. The gusset plate shop welds to the top flange of the beam.

Why square? The corner of the gusset plate that the horizontal brace frames across is a square corner (not cut) -- hence the name " Gusset One Member Square ."
