The Horizontal Brace Edit window ( Modeling )

The navigation tree is found in the left pane of the Horizontal Brace Edit window. It makes navigating the window easier. Right-click opens a menu with options to " Expand all " and " Collapse all ." A " Delete " option is shown on the menu if you right-click a custom component .

Selecting a section name opens that section on the Horizontal Brace Edit window. In the example at left, " Connection specifications " is selected and, as a result, the " Connection specifications " leaf is expanded (as opposed to collapsed) ( VIDEO1 ). Sections are scrolled to when opened or, if they are already opened, when double-clicked ( VIDEO2 ).

To resize the pane containing the navigation tree, drag its right edge.

" Show images " (when checked) displays drawings that depict dimensions that are controlled by connection design locks . ( VIDEO3 )

" Overlay " (when checked) (when checked) displays one section at a time, just like selecting a tab on a window with tabs displays only the section for that one tab.

• Custom component settings will appear on the Horizontal Brace Edit window only if a custom component has been added to the brace (using Model > Component > Add ).

• One custom component whose settings can appear on a Horizontal Brace Edit window is " HSS Cap Plates ."

Please note :

  • Horizontal braces may be input so they are perfectly horizontal or so that they slope up to 30 degrees from horizontal.
  • The brace must be in the same plane as the beam it frames to, which means that for a roof that slopes 20 degrees, the brace must slope 20 degrees.
  • To get to a view that is in the same plane as the beams, invoke Snap to Surface and click the top flange of one of the beams.
