Server requirements (multi-user environments)

In an SDS2 server/client environment, the server hosts the SDS2 data files for a multi-user environment, and client machines read and write directly to that central data location. Because SDS2 uses a fully live model, server storage performance and network performance are critical to overall user experience.

Backups

  • Backup the entire SDS2 data directory on a regular schedule, ensuring all supporting system files are included in each backup set.
  • Maintain at least two backup locations for SDS2 project data, with one separate from the primary machine or server.
  • In shared environments, verify that backup jobs do not interfere with active SDS2 use. Test the restore procedures regularly.
  • Use drawing restore/revert features for recovery of individual drawing states, not as the primary backup strategy for jobs or project data.
