These requirements apply to the Current Version of SDS2 and the Supported Versions, as defined in the ALLPLAN Product Lifecycle Policy. Retired Versions may still run, but they are not tested or supported on new hardware or operating system environments.

| Mouse | 3 + button | 3 - 4+ button, Macro keypad similar to Elgato Stream Deck |
| Network | Wired gigabit; low-latency connection for server/client or cloud workflows, Wi‑Fi not recommended for production use | Wired gigabit; low-latency connection for server/client or cloud workflows, Wi‑Fi not recommended for production use |
| Virtualization | VMware ESXi or similar with dedicated vCPU/RAM/GPU resources | VMware ESXi or similar with dedicated vCPU/RAM/GPU resources |
Server requirements (multi-user environments)
In an SDS2 server/client environment, the server hosts the SDS2 data files for a multi-user environment, and client machines read and write directly to that central data location. Because SDS2 uses a fully live model, server storage performance and network performance are critical to overall user experience.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows Server 2019 or 2022 | 64-bit Windows Server 2019 or 2022 |
| Processor | 4-core 64-bit server-class CPU (Intel Xeon / AMD EPYC or equivalent) | 8-core or higher; additional cores benefit environments where the server also runs backup agents, antivirus, or domain services alongside SDS2 |
| Memory (RAM) | 16 GB | 32 GB or more; larger RAM allows the OS to cache frequently accessed SDS2 files and reduces storage I/O under concurrent load |
| Storage — Type | Enterprise SSD (SATA or SAS) for the SDS2 data volume | NVMe SSD; lower latency and higher IOPS than SATA SSD, which is critical for concurrent read/write operations |
| Storage — capacity | 500 GB | 1 TB or more |
| Network — speed | Wired gigabit Ethernet (1 GbE) for server and all clients | 10 GbE for the server NIC and switch uplink |
| Network — topology | Managed gigabit switch; SDS2 clients and server on the same LAN segment | Same; avoid routing SDS2 traffic across subnets or through firewalls that add latency |
| Network — latency | Local LAN only | Keep round-trip latency under 1 ms between server and clients; VPN or WAN access degrades live model performance |
| Wi-Fi | Wired connections required for all production users | Wired connections required for all production users |
| File sharing | Windows SMB share with stable mapped drives and consistent permissions for all SDS2 users | Windows SMB share with stable mapped drives and consistent permissions for all SDS2 users |
| Antivirus / indexing | Configure AV exclusions for SDS2 data folders; real-time scanning degrades read/write performance | Configure AV exclusions for SDS2 data folders; real-time scanning degrades read/write performance |
| Virtualization | VMware ESXi Server; dedicate vCPUs, RAM, and storage I/O to the SDS2 server VM | VMware ESXi Server; dedicate vCPUs, RAM, and storage I/O to the SDS2 server VM |
| Backup | Automated daily backup of SDS2 data to at least two locations (on-site and off-site or cloud) | Automated daily backup of SDS2 data to at least two locations (on-site and off-site or cloud) |
