BEFORE INSTALLATION:

  • Verify that your system meets the minimum system requirements, and your hardware meets the minimum requirements to run the product.

  • Log into Windows as an Administrator or verify that you have Administrator rights to complete installation.

  • Read the Release Notes.

Follow these steps to complete your installation of SDS2.

  1. Download the latest version of SDS2 from the SDS2 website, then launch the associated EXE file.

  2. A welcome window will appear. Click Next.

  3. When prompted, read the installation instructions. Click Next.

  4. Read the License Agreement and check, “I accept the terms of the License Agreement.” Click Next.

  5. The Choose Components screen has four options: Server Installation, Client Installation, Server Installation with Samples, and Custom. These are further described below. NOTE: Server Installation is also used for a stand-alone install. You MUST install the network server before installing client machines.

    1. Server Installation or Server Installation with Samples

      1. On the Choose Program Files Location screen, accept the default installation path or specify a new one as desired. Click Next.

      2. On the Choose Data Files Location screen, accept the default installation path or specify a new one as desired. Click Next.

      3. Either accept the default Start Menu program name or type in your own. Click Next.

      4. On the Select Installation Options screen, select the desired options. Click Next.

      5. On the Start Copying Files screen, verify your selected options, then click Install.

      6. A window will appear asking to set file permissions. Say yes to allow SDS2 to set file permissions on the installed files. The installation will continue.

      7. Click Next. NOTE: Additional installs for third-party packages, if needed, will launch automatically.

      8. On the final screen, you can optionally select to Start SDS2. Click Close to finish the installation.

    2. Client Installation

      1. On the Choose Program Files Location screen, accept the default installation path or specify a new one as desired. Click Next.

      2. On the Choose Data Files Location screen, locate the directory on your server. This drive, which must be a drive letter, needs to be mapped before you install the client. Click Next.

      3. Either accept the default Start Menu program name or type in your own. Click Next.

      4. On the Select Installation Options screen, select the desired options. Click Next.

      5. On the Start Copying Files screen, verify your selected options, then click Install.

      6. Click Next. NOTE: Additional installs for third-party packages, if needed, will launch automatically.

      7. On the final screen, you can optionally select to Start SDS2. Click Close to finish the installation.
