Paste ( Drawing Editor > Ctrl + v )

Tool summary :

• Places cut or copied objects at the point you locate and to the comment layer that is selected in your current drawing.
• The reference point of cut or copied objects depends on the method used to create the copy:
  • Copy (reference point is lower, left corner of bounding box)
  • Cut (reference point is lower, left corner of bounding box)
  • Copy with Reference Point (user-defined reference point)
  • Cut with Reference Point (user-defined reference point)
• Paste does not operate on text in windows. To paste text in an entry field on a window, use Ctrl + v , which also happens to be the default keyboard shortcut assigned to Paste .
• Save Standard Detail followed by Add Standard Detail can be a better alternative to Copy & Paste if you want to save an archived copy of objects for repeated placement in multiple drawings over the course of multiple Drawing Editor sessions.

   Step-by-step instructions :

A copy of graphic objects is made when you Copy or Cut or Copy with Reference Point or Cut with Reference Point . The following instructions assume that you are using a 3-button mouse.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a : You need to have done a Copy or Cut or Copy with Reference Point or Cut with Reference Point operation in your current drawing or in another drawing.

1b : Confirm that the comment layer selected on the layer selection tool is the one you want. You can change it to a different comment layer if you like.

2 . Invoke Paste using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Paste icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Edit ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Edit > Paste .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Paste can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut ( Ctrl + v ), the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

Method 6 : In Select Items Mode , right-click ( Menu ) and choose " Paste " on the context menu .

3 . Locate- Pan -Return mouse bindings become active along with various Locate options. The status line prompts, " Paste: place reference point ." The group of objects most recently saved using Copy or Cut or etc. is shown on screen. A point location target identifies the reference point of the group of objects.

Alternative 1 : Select the Locate icon that you want (if it's not selected already). Place your mouse pointer ( ) so the point location target snaps to where you want the group of object to be placed, then left-click ( Locate ) to place the group of objects on the selected comment layer . Tip: The pasted objects can be removed with Undo .

Alternative 2 : Right-click ( Return ) if you do not want to place the group of objects.
