The Parametric General Information window

------ Material information ------

Description (obj. ImperialDescription or obj. MetricDescription ): The string that you want to appear as the submaterial " Description " on the member bill of material. This is also the " Description " on the General Information window in Modeling . If you leave this blank, A default material description is created automatically when the material is generated.

A related attribute : obj.IsUserDescription = "Yes" or "No" can be used to check ( = "Yes" ) or uncheck ( = "No" ) the Auto box for " Description ." You must set this to "Yes" if you want the obj.description to be retained.

Material usage description (obj. MaterialUsageDescription or obj. mtrl_usage ): Any string of up to 30 characters that describes how this material will be used.

To assign the description : On the Parametric General Information window, press the "file cabinet" browse button ( ), select the appropriated material type ( Plate or Wide Flange or etc.), then double-click the description you want assigned to this material. Or you can type in a description.

------ Material routing configurations ------

Material route 1 (obj. MaterialRoute1Description or obj. mtrl_route1 ): Any routing definition string that has been entered to the User Routing Category window for user routing configuration 1 may be applied to a material here. Just press the "file" button ( ) and double-click any routing definition that is on the list. User routing configuration 1 definitions are compiled into the " Mult. Cutting # " column the member bill of material.

Example: You enter cut3 here. A new line that reads obj.MaterialRoute1Description = "cut3" is added to the parametric code. After you Run the parametric in Modeling then detail Members , the string cut3 is added to the " Mult. Cutting # " column in the affected detail's bill of material.

Material route 2 (obj. MaterialRoute2Description or obj. mtrl_route2 ): Any routing definition string that has been entered to the User Routing Category window for user routing configuration 2 may be applied to a material here. Just press the "file" button ( ) and double-click any routing definition that is on the list. User routing configuration 2 definitions are compiled into the " Labor Code " column in the member bill of material.

Example: You enter $/lb here. A new line that reads obj.MaterialRoute2Description = "$/lb" is added to the parametric code. After you Run the parametric in Modeling then detail Members , the string $/lb is added to the " Labor Code " column in the affected detail's bill of material.

Material route 3 (obj. MaterialRoute3Description or obj. mtrl_route3 ): Any routing definition string that has been entered to the User Routing Category window for user routing configuration 3 may be applied to a material here. Just press the "file" button ( ) and double-click any routing definition that is on the list. User routing configuration 3 definitions are compiled into the " Job Cost Code " column in the member bill of material.

Example: You enter $/ft here. A new line that reads obj.MaterialRoute3Description = "$/ft" is added to the parametric code. After you Run the parametric in Modeling then detail Members , the string $/ft is added to the " Job Cost Code " column in the affected detail's bill of material.

Material route 4 (obj. MaterialRoute4Description or obj. mtrl_route4 ): Any routing definition string that has been entered to the User Routing Category window for user routing configuration 4 may be applied to a material here. Just press the "file" button ( ) and double-click any routing definition that is on the list. User routing configuration 4 definitions are compiled into the " Remarks " column in the member bill of material.

Example: You enter paint here. A new line that reads obj.MaterialRoute4Description = "paint" is added to the parametric code. After you Run the parametric in Modeling then detail Members , the string paint is added to the " Remarks " column in the affected detail's bill of material.
