Tool summary :
- Closes the Drawing Editor . The same can be accomplished by clicking the "x" button at the upper, right corner of the Drawing Editor window.
- If Exit detects that changes have been made to your current drawing, Exit gives you options to shut down with or without saving those changes and also gives you the option to assign a " Detail complete date " to that drawing.
- If no changes have been made to your current drawing, Exit simply shuts down the Drawing Editor without giving you any options.
- You can exit the Drawing Editor from any type of drawing. You cannot exit if you are in the middle of performating an operation. Press Esc or right-click ( Return ) to end the operation, then try to exit again. The next time you launch the Drawing Editor , the defaults for the Edit Palette and hiding items on a selection dialog are reset.
- Best practice is to exit the Drawing Editor and exit Modeling and close Home ( ) before shutting down or restarting your computer.
- If you want to leave the Drawing Editor but are not shutting down, try minimizing the Drawing Editor . Later you can restore the Drawing Editor , including the exact view you were in. You can even run multiple sessions of the Drawing Editor at the same time.
- The " Show " / hide state of drawing layers is retained when you Exit . Hidden layers are not plotted.

1 . Invoke Exit using one (1) of the following methods:
Method 1 : Click the Exit icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' File ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose File > Exit .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Exit can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .
Method 6 : Click the
2 (if applicable) : Skip this step if it does not apply. If you have made changes to your current drawing, the program opens a Save Changes dialog. Optionally enter or clear the " Detail complete date " or " Detail frozen date ," then press one (1) of the following buttons.
Detail complete date: A month day year or **NOT SET** . Double-click to enter today's 'month day year' (see entering dates ). This prevents your current drawing from being auto detailed again. Users can save changes made in the Drawing Editor to a detail-complete drawing, but to do so they would need to press " Yes " on the dialog that asks if they want to override. Enter '**NOT SET** ' (type ' 0 ' then press Tab ) to clear the detail complete date and thus permit the drawing to be auto detailed again.
Detail frozen date: A month day year or **NOT SET** . This option is available only if your current drawing is a member detail . Double-click to enter today's 'month day year' (see entering dates ). This prevents users from changing any layers except comment layers . Setting a date also prevents re-detailing and the changing of this member's piecemark. Users must clear the frozen date before they can make changes to non-comment layers. Enter ' **NOT SET** ' (type ' 0 ' then press Tab ) to clear the frozen date. Click here for more information.
"Yes" closes this dialog and Saves to disk the changes you have made to this drawing (including detail complete status changes). If you changed the " Detail complete date " on a detail sheet or a gather sheet , another yes-no dialog lets you apply that same date to all details (or all submaterials) on that sheet. Go to step 3.
"No" close the dialog, but does not save any changes you have made to your current drawing (including the changed " Detail complete date "). The Drawing Editor also closes. Go to step 3.
"Cancel" closes the dialog, but you remain in the Drawing Editor drawing that is currently open and everything stays it was before step 1 (except the changed " Detail complete date " if you have changed it). Do not continue.
3 . The Drawing Editor is now shut down.
