Step-by-step instructions :
1 . Invoke Select Member by Member Number using any one (1) of the following methods:
Method 1 : Click the icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Member ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Member > Select by Member Number .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Select Member by Member Number can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
2 . Any items that you were selected before step 1 will now be deselected. A selection dialog will appear with a list of members by member number [num] and piecemark. All members in your 3D model will be listed (with the exception of those that have been hidden ).
Alternative 1 : Select from the list one or more member numbers that you want, then press the " OK " button.
Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to end the Select Members by Number operation and keep everything as it was before step 1. Do not continue.
Tip: If a member is within the boundaries of your current view ( depth checking doesn't matter), it will be highlighted as your mouse pointer hovers over the listing of its member number in the selection dialog. Also, an origin symbol will identify that member's left end .
3 . The selected members that are in your current view will be displayed in the User and Site Options > Modeling > " Primary selection color ." If members not in your view are selected, they will be displayed in the " Primary selection color " when you go to a view where they can be seen.
Tip 1: Look at the selection count if you want to know how many members are selected.
Tip 2: Select + can be used to add to your selection. Use Select- if you want to deselect members.
