Three ways to open Output Configuration Setup :

In User and Site Options :

1 . Under User and Site Options > Output > "Output configurations," click the " Edit ... " button.

2 . An output configuration selection list opens. Double-click the name of the configuration you want to review or change (or create a new output configuration file).

Note: Any changes you make to that will be applied as the defaults whenever that configuration is used for output.

On selection dialogs :

1 . Press the button under the " Destination " heading to bring up this window (the Output Configuration Setup window).

Note: Changing " Send output to " temporarily overrides the default set in User and Site Options > Output . Changing the " Configuration " resets the default set in User and Site Options .

For output operations with no selection dialog :

1 . Invoking the command for a report that outputs data for all items in the entire Job opens this window (the Output Configuration Setup window). For example : Field Bolts for Members , Shop Bolt Summary .

Configuration: The file name of the output configuration. This field is read-only if you opened this window using the " Edit ... " button in User and Site Options > Output . If you opened this window in some other way, please note the following:

To select an output configuration of a different name:
1 .
Press the "file cabinet" browse button ( ).
2 . On the list of output configuration files, double-click the file name that you want.
3 . The configuration you selected and its specifications are now entered here, on this window.
4 . This also changes the configuration that is selected to the relevant option (" Reports " or etc.) in User and Site Options > Output > " Output configurations ."

To create a new output configuration file:
1 .
Press the "file cabinet" browse button ( ).
2 . Press the " New " button on the selection window that appears.
3 . Enter the name you want for the new file, then press " OK ."
4 . The new file name is now entered here.
5 . Enter the Destination for your new configuration.
6 . This also changes the configuration that is selected to the relevant option (" Reports " or etc.) in User and Site Options > Output > " Output configurations ."

------ Destination ------

Tip: If you opened this window by pressing the button under the " Destination " heading on a selection dialog, making changes to " Send output to " temporarily overrides the output configuration settings. It does not permanently modify the output configuration. To modify an output configuration, press " Edit " on the User and Site Options window. To change to a different output configuration, see " Configuration ."

Send output to: Screen/report viewer or Dump or Printer or Disk or Mail (Windows only) or Project defined output location or File or Directory .

' Screen/report viewer ' sets the file (for example, a report) to be sent to your computer screen. You can then view the information in the file on screen, and you will also have the option to save it or print it (see report viewer ). On a selection dialog, the " Destination " button will say " Screen ."

' Dump ' sets the file to be sent to your computer screen. You can then view the information in the file on screen, but you will not have the option to save it or print it.

' Printer ' sets the file (for instance, a report) to be output directly to your printer. On a selection dialog, the " Destination " button will say " Printer ."

' Mail via Microsoft Messenger ' allows you to output a report, etc. to your email box so that you can, for instance, forward it to somebody via email. This option is only available if you are under a Windows operating systems.

' Project defined output location ' uses the path specified in Project Output ( Fabricator Setup ). On a selection dialog, the " Destination " button will say " Project ."

VIDEO CNC files are output to the desktop by making appropriate choices in Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > Project Output and under User Opitons > the " Output " tab. Although Site Planning is not distributed with CNC download capabilities, CNC downloading still provides a good example for the output of other file types. (Recorded in SDS2 Detailing , v2016.)

' Disk ' sets the file (sheet file or BIF file or CNC download or etc.) to be sent to the hard drive or CD drive specified for " File " or " Directory ."

File: or Directory: Choose one only -- do not fill out both " File " and " Directory ." Enter a file path to " File " if the output is a single file (BIF, EJE Export). Enter a path to " Directory " if your output is one or more files that are named by the program that does the exporting (CNC, Export Model).

File : You can type in the file path that you want, or you can press the " Browse " button and, in the dialog that opens, select a file ( ) to enter a path to that file. In the example above , the export is to a file named "file.txt" that is in a file folder named "subfolder" that is in a file folder named "folder" that is on your "D:" drive. Tip : Giving a file name a .txt extension expedites the importing of the file to a word processor or spread sheet program. Giving it a .htm or .html extension writes the file in HTML. On a selection dialog, the " Destination " button will say " File ."

Directory : You can type in the path to the file folder that you want, or you can press the " Browse " button and, in the dialog that opens, select a file folder ( ) to enter a path to that folder. In the example above , the export is to a file folder named "subfolder" that is in a file folder named "folder" that is on your "D:" drive. On a selection dialog, the " Destination " button will say " Directory ."

------ Filters ------

Line ends: Windows or UNIX . Select the operating system that the program which reads the text file operates under.

' Windows ' instructs the text file (ASCII file) to be output in a format (with line ends) that is compatible with programs that operate in a Windows environment.

' UNIX ' outputs the file in a format that is compatible the programs that operate in a Unix environment.

Compress with gzip: or .

When this option is checked ( ), the data being output will be compressed, resulting in a reduction of approximately 90% in large files such as .dxf files. Files compressed in this manner can be unzipped (decompressed) using programs such as WinZip , GZip and PKZip . A .gz extension will be added to files written in compressed form.

If the box is not checked ( ), the file will not automatically be compressed.

Exiting the Output Configuration Setup window :

"OK" closes this window and does one of the following:

Possibility 1: If you are outputting a file, that file will be output to the destination entered on this window. However, the next time you output a file of this same type, the default destination will be set according to the file selected (for " Reports " or etc.) in User and Site Options > Output > " Output configurations ."

Possibility 2: If you opened this window using " Edit configuration ," then " OK " saves any changes you made to the configuration file .

"Cancel" closes the Output Configuration Setup window without saving any changes.

"Reset" undoes all changes that were made since the last save. The Output Configuration Setup window remains open.
