Rename External Fabricator ( Utility Functions )

  • An "external" Fabricator is a Fabricator that is stored in the fabs folder in the data directory that is used by the current version of this program.
  • It is "external" to your current Job , whereas all Fabricators that can be used in a Job are stored in that Job.
  • The Rename External Fabricator utility can be used to change the file name of an external Fabricator only. You cannot use this utility to change the name of your current Fabricator or any other Fabricator that is stored in your current Job .

Step-by-step instructions :

1 . Start up the Rename External Fabricator utility:

1a : Home > Utilities > Utility Functions . If prompted to do so, enter the " Utility Password " that has been set up for your network. Then, on the Utility Functions menu, click " Rename External Fabricator ."

2 . The Rename External Fabricator dialog opens.

Original fabricator name: The file name of the to-be-renamed Fabricator. Tip: Press the file button ( ) to open a selection dialog with a list of all Fabricator files that are stored in the fabs folder that is used by the current version of the review station used to start this utility. Double-click to select any Fabricator that is listed.

New fabricator name: The file name (up to 64 characters) that you want to replace the " Original fabricator name " entered above. Fabricator file names can be made up of letters and/or numbers with "_" or "." used as optional separators. The new Fabricator must be the only Fabricator file with that name.

Alternative 1 : Press " OK " to continue. Go to step 3.

Alternative 2 : Press " Cancel " to end the Rename External Fabricator operation without renaming the Fabricator.

3 . One of the following happens:

Possibility 1 : The program renames the Fabricator as you specified, and you get a message saying that the Fabricator has been " successfully renamed ." Press the " OK " button.

Possibility 2 : The Fabricator is not renamed because another Fabricator with the same name as the " New fabricator name " already exists. You get a message saying, " New Fabricator name must be an unique name ." Press the " OK " button and go back to step 2.
