Copy Notes ( Modeling )
Tool summary :
- Sometimes, instead of creating an entirely new note using Add Note to Model , you may find it easier to copy an existing note, then double-click the copied note to make any additional changes that you want.

Step-by-step instructions :
Since this procedure lets you optionally, in step 6, copy the note (or notes) to a member, the " Type " of the copied notes may be ' Member ' or ' Model '. The following instructions assume that you are using a 3-button mouse. You must do either step 1b (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.
1 . Before invoking Copy Notes :
1a . Notes need to be displayed before you can select them for copying. To permit notes that can be displayed to be displayed, you need to check the box for "
Notes " in Display Options .
1b . Open ( Ctrl + o ) a view that shows the notes that you want to copy and the location where you want to copy them.

Select Items bindings (step 1c)
1c (optional) : In Select Items mode with an appropriate selection filter selected, click a note ( Select ) to select it. You can then hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select+ ) to select additional notes. This step is optional since, if it is not performed, you will be prompted to select one or more notes in step 3. Skip step 3 if you perform this step.
2 . Invoke Copy Notes using one (1) of the following methods:
In Modeling :
Method 1 : Click the Copy Notes icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Methods 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Copy Notes .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Copy Notes can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
3 . Skip this step if you already selected one or more notes in step 1c.

3a (if you didn't preselect) : The program activates Select Item(s) mode mouse bindings, and the status line prompts you to select the notes you want to copy. Press the Enter key (or choose " OK " on the context menu ) when you are done selecting.
4 . Skip this step if you only selected one note in step 1c or step 3. If you selected one note, a reference point is selected for you automatically, at the tip of the note's pointer, and you can go directly to step 5.

4a (if you selected more than one note) : Locate- Pan -Return mouse bindings become active along with various Locate options. The status line prompts, "Locate a reference point:" Select the Locate icon you want (if its not pressed already), then place your mouse pointer (
) so that the point location target (
) snaps to where you want the reference point, then left-click ( Locate ).
5 . The status line prompts, "Locate offset:"

) snaps to a point that is the direction and distance that you want the selected notes to be copied with respect to the reference point, then left-click ( Locate ).
6 (optional) . The program activates Select One Item mouse bindings, and the status line prompts you to " Select member to copy to ."

Alternative 1 : Hit the Esc key (or right-click and choose " Cancel ") to end this operation without copying the note(s).
Alternative 2 : Hit the Enter key (or right-click and choose " OK ") to copy the note(s) without selecting a member. The " Type " of the copied note(s) will be ' Model '.
Alternative 3 : Place your mouse pointer (
) over a member and left-click ( Select ) to select that one member. The " Link " button on the Edit Note xxx window for the copied note(s) will show the member number of the member that you selected. The " Type " of the copied note(s) will be ' Member '.
