Sheet Item Edit ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

  • Lets you edit one or multiple sheet items that you select. Selection filtering is built in.
  • All sheet items that you select must be on comment layers in order for you to be able to edit them on the Edit Sheet Item window. Otherwise, the window will be read-only.
  • The preferred way to edit a single sheet item is to double-click it while ' Default ' is selected as the selection filter. Again, the sheet item must be on a comment layer in order for it to be editable.
  • If you preselect multiple types of objects, Sheet Item Edit will edit only those objects that are sheet items. The other objects will remain selected. Click here for an example. Preselection is done in Select Items mode. Here are the steps:

    Select Items bindings (for preselection)

    1. Draw an area box or hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select+ ) several objects of the same type or of different types.
    2. Invoke Sheet Item Edit .
    3. The Edit Sheet Item window opens. It will be read-only if any sheet items in your selection were on non-comment layers.
  • In-tool selection takes place when you invoke Sheet Item Edit with nothing selected or with object types other than sheet items selected. The tool brings up Select Item(s) mouse bindings, and the status line prompts you select sheet items. Here are the steps:

    1. Invoke Sheet Item Edit .

      Select Item(s) bindings (for in-tool selection)
    2. Select one or more objects. Built-in selection filtering restricts you to selecting sheet items. Press the Enter key when you are done selecting the objects.
    3. The Edit Sheet Item window opens. It will be read-only if any sheet items in your selection were on non-comment layers.
  • To invoke Sheet Item Edit :

    Method 1 : Click the Sheet Item Edit icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Sheet Items ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

    Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Sheet Items > Edit .

    Method 3, 4 or 5 : Sheet Item Edit can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .
