W tee material (topic)

Shape file specifications:

d = depth
k = k distance
g = flange gage
tf = flange thickness
bf = flange width
tw = web thickness

Other shape file specifications: " Nominal Depth ," " Weight per Unit " (lbs/ft or kg/m), " Structural Properties ," " k distance (design) ," " Flange Bevel ."

Additional settings for a W tee are defined on the Rolled Section Material window. These additional settings are not available in the local shape file and are read-only in Site Planning.

General description: W tee material is rolled steel with a cross section that is "T" shaped. It is basically a wide flange section that has been cut in half, and therefore it has a top flange and a web (the "stem").W tee material is sometimes referred to as a "T section" or as "tee material."

Section size naming convention: WT+nominal_depth+x+nominal_weight/length (pounds/foot U.S.). For example, WT3x6 . A tee section can be added to a shape file ( in a full-featured SDS2 program , not in Site Planning) using an entirely different naming convention than that described above. For example, an MT section can be added as a W tee.

In Modeling and the Drawing Editor : A W tee section must be defined in the local shape file before the user of a full-featured SDS2 program can enter it as a " Section size " to a member or material window in Modeling , or before its weight will be automatically calculated when the user enters it to the " Description " field in the bill editor.

Submaterial piece marking: The default material mark prefix for W tee material is wt .

Steel grades that are available for W tee material are set up using the Job Options list of " WT Grades ."
