Previous Retained View ( Modeling & Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

Cycles through retained views that you have saved during your current Modeling or Drawing Editor session.
Retained views are saved using Retain View . Assuming that you are not currently in a retained view, Previous Retained View shows you the most recently retained view, then the view that was retained before that retained view, and so on ...
To cycle through retained views in the opposite direction, you can use Next Retained View .

Step-by-step instructions :

If you have used Retain View to save retained views during your current session in Modeling or the Drawing Editor , you can use Previous Retained View to call up those views.

1 . Invoke Previous Retained View using one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Previous Retained View icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View ' (Modeling) or ' View ' ( Drawing Editor ) and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If the " Modeling layout style " or " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Previous Retained View .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Previous Retained View can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

2 . The program displays the retained view that was retained before the most recently displayed retained view.

Example: If view 5/12 was the retained view you most recently displayed in Modeling , then Previous Retained View displays view 4/12. Executing Previous Retained View again displays retained view 3/12, and so on until you get to 1/12, at which point Previous Retained View displays retained view 12/12.

Feedback: The status line tells you how many views have been retained and which of those views you are accessing. The number after the slash mark is the number of views that have been retained (e.g. if the status line reports " Retained View 3/4 " then four views have been retained; if it reports " Retained View 3/14 " then 14 views have been retained). The number before the slash mark is the order in which the view was retained (e.g. if the status line reports " Retained View 3/4 " then the view being displayed is the third view that was retained).

Note: At this point you have relocated your current view. If you were to Open ( Ctrl + o ) your current view again, you would undo the view changes made with Previous Retained View .
