Provides an alternative to Select Items mode that lets you draw a lasso .
Unlike the Select Items mode, Lasso mode does not allow you drag selected objects.
Ctrl , Shift and Ctrl+Shift modifiers function in the much the same way in Lasso mode as in Select Items mode, except that...
left-clicking and dragging draws a lasso and not an area box,
you cannot left-click objects to select (or deselect) them, and
right-clicking and dragging draws neither a lasso nor an area box.
User and Site Options > General > " Point selection by area box " affects lasso selection in the same way that it affects the drawing of an area box.
The icon can be taken from the group Selection and placed on the ribbon.
You can use Mode Configuration to configure tools to use lasso selection. For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
Pressing the Esc key returns you to Select Items mode.
