Ellipse Add Center ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

  • Draws an ellipse based on your locating its center then each end of its major axis.
  • If User and Site Options > Drawings > " Always show Circle Edit window " is turned on, the Ellipse Setup window will open after you have located point 3 of the ellipse.
  • After an ellipse has been added using any tool, the choices made on its edit window set the default pen (color) and line type (dash pattern) for subsequently added ellipses unless you change the Edit Palette or edit that ellipse or another ellipse in the meantime.

An ellipse is added using Ellipse Add Center . Point 1 locates the center. Point 2 sets the major axis. Point 3 sets the minor axis.

To invoke Ellipse Add Center :

Method 1 : Click the Ellipse Add Center icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Circles ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Circles > Ellipse Add Center .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Ellipse Add Center can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

Point 1 of the ellipse is its center.

Point 2 of the ellipse is one end of its major axis. The distance between point 1 and point 2 is the ellipse's " Major axis radius ." Tip: You can type this radius..

Point 3 of the ellipse is one end of its minor axis. The distance between point 1 and point 3 is the ellipse's " Minor axis radius ' "

Optional: If User and Site Options > Drawings > " Always show Circle Edit window " is turned on, the Ellipse Setup window will open after you have located point 3 of the ellipse.
