Dimension Edit ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

  • Lets you edit one or multiple dimensions that you select. Selection filtering is built in.
  • In a drawing that is not a crane placement drawing , the dimensions that you select must be on comment layers if you want them to be editable on the window that opens. In crane placement drawings, you can edit objects on non-comment layers as well as on comment layers.
  • The preferred way to edit a single dimension is to double-click it while ' Default ' is selected as the selection filter.
  • If you preselect multiple types of objects, Dimension Edit will edit only those objects that are dimensions. The other objects will remain selected. Click here for an example. Preselection is done in Select Items mode. Here are the steps:

    Select Items bindings (for preselection)

    1. Draw an area box or hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select+ ) several objects of the same type or of different types.
    2. Invoke Dimension Edit .
    3. The Edit Dimension window opens. The window is fully editable if you are in a crane placement drawing.
  • In-tool selection takes place when you invoke Dimension Edit with nothing selected or with object types other than dimensions selected. The tool brings up Select Item(s) mouse bindings, and the status line prompts you select dimensions. Here are the steps:

    1. Invoke Dimension Edit .

      Select Item(s) bindings (for in-tool selection)
    2. Select one or more objects. Built-in selection filtering restricts you to selecting dimensions. Press the Enter key when you are done selecting the objects.
    3. The Edit Dimension window opens. The window is fully editable if you are in a crane placement drawing.
  • To invoke Dimension Edit :

    Method 1 : Click the Dimension Edit icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Dimensions ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

    Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Dimensions > Edit .

    Method 3, 4 or 5 : Dimension Edit can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .
