Toggle Stick/Solids ( Modeling )

Tool summary :

  • Changes a member's display style from stick to solid transparent or from solid trans to solid trans main or from solid trans main to solid opaque or from solid opaque to stick.
  • Beams, columns, braces, jousts, girts and purlins can only be displayed in a solid style after Create Solids (in a full-featured SDS2 program). The member will remain in stick form if you try to display it in solids form before Create Solids .
  • If the member clicked on is in stick form, it will be changed to solid transparent; if it is in solid transparent form, it will be changed to solid transparent main; if it is in solid transparent main form, it will be changed to solid opaque; if it is in solid opaque form, it will be changed to stick.

   Step-by-step instructions :

Toggle Stick/Solid can be used in Modeling to change the form of a member you click on. The following instructions assume that you are using a 3-button mouse.

1 . Invoke Toggle Stick/Solids using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Toggle Stick/Solid icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View -- Solids Mode ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Toggle Stick/Solid .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Toggle Stick/Solid can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

2 . Select - Pan - Menu mouse bindings become active (if you are using a 3-button mouse).

2a : Place the mouse pointer ( ) on the member whose form you want to change, then left-click ( Select ).

3 . The form of the member is changed (from stick to solids transparent or from solids transparent to solid transparent main or from solids transparent main to solids opaque or from solids opaque to stick). The mouse bindings that were active before you invoked Toggle Stick/Solid are again active.

Tip: When you Open ( Ctrl + o ) a different view in Modeling , you will find (in that view) that the member whose form you changed in this view continues to be displayed in the form you have changed it to.
