Isometric View ( Modeling > press i i )

Tool summary :

  • Shows you an isometric perspective of your current view. You are given rotation options.
  • An isometric view is a view of the 3D model or part of the model from an angle. More material surfaces are visible when a view is isometric as opposed to orthogonal.
  • Creating an isometric view from a full plan view with depth checking off gives you a view of the entire structure (without limits). On the other hand, an isometric view created from an elevation view does have limits.
  • If you want to undo your changes, you can Undo View Change ( u ) or Revert ( Ctrl + r ).

   Step-by-step instructions :

The following instructions assume that you are using a 3-button mouse and that you use mouse bindings similar to those shown in these illustrations.

1 . Invoke Isometric View . The view you are in directly affects the results you get (see the note at the top of this help document). In this example, the view is a plan view, and the results are an isometric view of that plan view.
2 . The view is transformed into an isometric view. If your mouse has a mouse wheel , you can use it to rotate your view around the Z axis of the model, or middle-click ( Options ) and use the "<==" or "==>" buttons to do the same. Left-click ( Accept ) to accept the view. Or right-click ( Return ) to go back to the view in step 1.
3 . You are now able to work in the isometric view that you accepted in step 2.

Note 1: To invoke Isometric View , choose View > Isometric View ...

Method 1 : Click the Isometric View icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Isometric View .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Isometric View can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface . The default keyboard shortcut for Isometric View is i i .

Note 2: The depth-check limits of the isometric view will match the depth-check limits of the view you started in. You may want to uncheck ( ) the box for depth checking to turn it off.

Note 3: At this point you have not actually created a new view; you have simply relocated your current view. To make your current view look the way that it did when your first opened it, use Undo View Change , or Open ( Ctrl + o ) your current view again.
