Solid Opaque ( Modeling > press s s )

Tool summary :

  • Sets the display style of members that you select to, where possible, be solid opaque. Members that require solids to be created will continue to be stick members.
  • Solid opaque is a member display style that features opaque member main material and opaque connection material.
  • Here's an example:

    1 . Select the members you want to display in solid opaque. 2 . View > Solid Opaque to display the selected in solid opaque. 3 . Click a blank space to deselect the members.

You must be in Modeling and do either step 1b (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation. Solid Opaque causes members that you select to be redrawn in solid opaque form.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a (if needed) : In a full-featured SDS2 program which shares your current Job, Process and Create Solids . Before they have undergone Create Solids , members can only be displayed in stick form. Process and Create Solids cannot be done in an SDS2 review station .

Select Items bindings (step 1b)

1b (optional) : In Select Items mode with an appropriate selection filter selected, use Select or Select + (or draw an area box or Select Members by Number ) to select the member(s) that you want to change to solid opaque (so that they are displayed in the User and Site Options > Modeling > " Primary selection color "). Use Select- if you want to deselect members.

2 . Invoke Solid Opaque using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Solid Opaque icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View -- Solids Mode ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Solid Opaque .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Solid Opaque can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . The default keyboard shortcut for Solid Opaque is s s . If you preselected members (step 1b), you can right-click ( Menu ) then choose " Solid Opaque " on the context menu .

Method 6 : In Solids Mode , right-click ( Opaque ).

3 . Skip this step if you already selected members in step 1b.

Select Item(s) bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect) : You will now be prompted to use Select Items Mode options to select the member(s) you want to change to solid opaque form. Press the Enter key (or choose " OK " on the right-click menu ) when you are done selecting members.

4 . The program displays the selected members in solid opaque form (except those that have not yet undergone Create Solids ). If you did step 1b, the selected members remain selected -- that is, they are highlighted in the User and Site Options > Modeling > " Primary selection color ."

Tip: When you Open ( Ctrl + o ) a different erection view, you will find that members displayed in solid opaque in your current view are also solid opaque in that other view.
