1. Click the Layer Add icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be found on the Layer Panel.
Alternative: Invoke Layer Add using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the icon.

2. The Layer Add window opens with two settings that define the new layer.
Name: The name you want to give the layer.
As comment layer: If this box
is checked, the new layer you are creating is a comment layer. Comment layers are normally not printed, although they can be. If the box
is not checked, the layer is a regular drawing layer. Tip: You cannot change a comment layer to a non-comment layer or vice versa.
3. When you are done adjusting the settings on the Layer Add window, click the OK button to add the new layer. The new layer is now the active layer. Save the drawing to make the new layer permanent.
Alternative: Press the Cancel button to end command without adding a new layer.
Note: You can undo Layer Add using Revert or Undo. If you Save the drawing, you can no longer Revert, but you can still Undo.
