The Safety Holes window

  • Click here for help documentation on the Safety Holes custom component from the SDS2 Detailing help manual.
  • The Safety Holes review window provides custom component settings. You cannot add or modify a custom component in SDS2 Site Planning. You can review component settings.
To open the Safety Holes review window, you need to use the Model Tree . The custom component will be listed in the Model Tree as Safety Holes when " View By " is set to ' Member piecemark ' or ' Member number '. The Safety Holes component will be listed under its beam, after that beam's connection components ( Left End and Right End ), and before that beam's submaterials, welds and bolts. The holes added by the Safety Holes component will also be listed in the Model Tree , but under the column's main material, not under the beam.

The Safety Holes custom component is also a " Component " of whatever beam the component was added to in a full-featured SDS2 program . This means that another way to review the safety hole settings is to open the Beam Review window. The settings that control the holes are specified on the beam because the holes are positioned along the column based on the beam's top flange elevation. In this example, it is the right beam's " End elevation " that the holes are positioned with respect to. Large diameter holes were used in this example to make the holes easier to see.
