Shop Bolt Report by Zone (data from 3D model)

Tool summary :

  • Reports, on each line, quantities of shop bolts of a particular length, diameter, etc. that are needed to fabricate all members assigned the same piecemark that are in a particular zone.
  • The Shop Bolt Report by Zone provides a listing of all shop bolts in your current Job , with zones listed on separate pages.
  • Shown below is a page from a Shop Bolt Report by Zone .

Since the header of this page says Zone = 1 , all members that are listed on this page are members that are in zone 1. Depending on how piecemarking is set up for the current Job, piecemarks that are shown on this page may also appear in other pages, in different zones.
  • See, on this page, columns on the report and step-by-step instructions .

Columns on the report (also see the example ):

Zone: The zone that the shop bolts listed in the following columns are in.

Sequences and zones: When a member is assigned a sequence, it is also assigned to a zone. Many sequences may be assigned to one zone, but different zones cannot be assigned the same sequence. As a consequence of this, each physical member is in one sequence and in one zone. The Zone and Sequence setup table tells you which sequences are under which zones.

Line: The number of the line in this report that describes the group of shop bolts in that line. All shop bolts in a line are the same length and diameter and fasten to the total quantity of members in the zone that are identified by the one piecemark in that same line.

Piecemark: The piecemark ( member piecemark ) of the member(s) in the zone that this group of shop bolts are to be attached to in the shop.

Count: The total number of shop bolts on all members in this zone that share the particular piecemark reported on this line. If, for instance, there are three members in this zone that share this piecemark, each of which has four bolts that are to be attached in the shop to that member's submaterials, then the count reported here is 12.

Diameter: The diameter of each of the shop bolts reported on this line.

diameter

Type: The material grade of the bolts reported on this line. This column also includes the bolt type if ' Bolt material & type ' is selected for the setup option " Bolt designation shown in reports ."

Length: The distance from the inside of the bolt head to the end of the shaft. The program does not include the head thickness in its calculation of bolt length because head thickness may vary among bolt manufacturers.

length

Head Washer: The number of washers under the head of the shop bolt and their type ( HD or PL or RPL or FL or BVL or DTI or HLS ). If this cell is left blank, then there is no washer under the head of the shop bolt.

How to output a Shop Bolt Report by Zone :

Shop bolts are bolts that fasten connection materials to member main materials in the shop. Each line on this report specifies the total quantity of bolts needed by the shop to fasten submaterials to members in the same zone that share the same piecemark.

1 . Please note that the user of a full-featured SDS2 program who shares your current Job affects information on this report in the following ways:

1a : This report is compiled from the 3D model that is part of your current Job . When Process and Create Solids is done on that Job in a full-featured SDS2 program , the model is updated for that Job. You can then output a Shop Bolt Report by Zone that will be up to date.

1b : If you want only the steel grade to be listed in this report in the column "Type," then the user of a full-featured SDS2 program must set the setup option " Bolt designation shown in reports " to ' Bolt material only '.

2 . Use any one (1) of the following methods to begin printing this report:

Method 1 : Home > Reports > System Reports > Shop Bolts > Shop Bolt Report by Zone .

Method 2 : Click the Shop Bolt Report by Zone icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Reports ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning). Ribbon configuration is done using Customize Interface .

Method 3 : If " Modeling layout style " or " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Reports > Shop Bolts > Shop Bolt Report by Zone.

3 . The Output Configuration window opens, allowing you to change the destination (for example, to " Screen " or " Printer ").

Alternative 1 : Press the " OK " button to output the report. Go to step 4.

Alternative 2 : Press " Cancel " to end this operation without generating the report. Do not continue.

4 . The Shop Bolt Report by Zone is output to the device/ location that you designated.

Note: If you output the report to the report viewer (" Screen "), you can now review the report on screen, then optionally print it or output it to disk (see report viewer ).
