Layer Show/Hide

Shows or hides your current drawing's active layer. If the layer is hidden, it becomes shown. If the layer is shown, it becomes hidden.

1. On the Layer Panel, select the layer that you want to show or hide.

2. Invoke Layer Show/Hide using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the icon. If the layer is hidden, it becomes shown. If the layer is shown, it becomes hidden. Save the drawing if you want to keep the show/hide condition.

Alternative: Select a layer on the Layer Panel, right-click, and select Layer Show or Layer Hide from the context menu.

Note: You can undo Layer Show/Hide using Revert or Undo. If you Save the drawing, you can no longer Revert, but you can still Undo.

  • The active layer is the layer that is selected in the Layer Panel.
  • Plotting does not print hidden layers. What you see in the drawing in the Drawing Editor is what you see on the printed drawing.
  • A reason to hide layers is so that Xxx Edit All and Xxx Erase All operations do not affect objects on those layers.
  • Hiding a layer stops you from being able to select items on that layer. For example, if you hide a layer with labels on it, Label Edit All does not affect the labels on the hidden layer.
  • The Layer Panel can also be used to hide or show layers.
