   Step-by-step instructions :

The following instructions assume that you are in Modeling with 3D bolts shown in your current view and that you are using a 3-button mouse. You must do either step 1c (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a : Materials that are bolted must be displayed in one of the three solid forms for the bolts to be visible. Also, the box for " Bolts " must be checked on the Display Options window.

1b (tip) : If you are going to do 1c, you may want to set the selection filter to ' Bolts '.

Select Items bindings (step 1c)

1c (optional) : In Select Items mode, use Select or Select + (or draw an area box ) to select the bolt(s) that you want to erase. When the bolts are selected, they will be displayed in the User and Site Options > Modeling > " Primary selection surface color ," which by default is green. Use Select- if you want to deselect bolts.

2 . Invoke Bolt Erase using any one (1) of the following methods:

Methods 1, 2 & 3 : Click the icon, or use a keyboard shortcut, or use the context menu. A Bolt Erase icon can be added to your toolbar (classic) or ribbon (lightning). The icon, keyboard shortcut or context menu command can be found in the group named ' Model -- Bolt '. For lightning, Customize Interface is used to configure ribbons, keyboards, the context menu and modes.

Method 4 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Bolt > Erase .

Method 5 : With Bolt Mode mouse bindings active, right-click ( Erase ).

3 . Skip this step if you already selected the bolt(s) you want in step 1c.

Select Item(s) bindings.

3a (if you didn't preselect) : Bolt Erase prompts you to use Select Item(s) mouse bindings to select the one or more bolts. Press the Enter key or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the context menu to signal to Bolt Erase that you are done selecting the bolt(s).

4 . Bolt Erase gives you warning messages about the effects of the changes you are making. At the very least, you are notified that the bolts will be erased.

Alternative 1 : Press the " OK " button to complete the Bolt Erase operation. The bolt(s) are removed from the 3D model, and the view redraws so that the bolts disappear from it.

Alternative 2 : Press " Cancel " to end this operation without erasing the bolts. The bolts cease to be selected (green) if you selected them in step 3; they remain selected if you selected them in step 1c.

5 . The mouse bindings that were active before you invoked Bolt Erase are again active.
