Isolate Material by Piecemark Command

Isolates the material that you select from a list and brings you to an edit the material mode.

1 . Invoke Isolate Material by Piecemark using one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1: Click the Isolate Material by Piecemark icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be found on the Drawings page > Material section.

Method 2: Isolate Material by Piecemark can also be invoked using the Find Tool by searching the command name.

2 . A selection dialog opens with a list of all materials in your 3D model. Select the material that you want to isolate and select okay or double-click the material.

3 . Material isolation's edit the material mode opens. The isolated material is shown from the perspective of preset view number 0 and is displayed per User and Site Options > Modeling > " Member isolation solid display type ." To change to a different view or edit views, press the " Edit views " button.

  • The list includes all materials in the 3D model. You can select any material on the list, regardless of whether or not that material resides in your current view. If you select a material that is on more than one member, the program isolates the material that is a submaterial of whichever member in the model has the lowest member number .
  • Preset view number 0, which is the view that is first shown when you Isolate Material by Piecemark correlates to the main view of the material on its submaterial detail.
  • In edit the material mode, you can double-click the material to edit it, or you can double-click a hole to edit that hole's hole group. Pressing the " Edit views " button brings the material into isolation's edit views mode , where you can edit or delete or add views but not edit the material or its holes.
  • Any view changes made in edit views mode apply to all sumaterial with the same mark and will be incorporated into the submaterial detail when you Detail Submaterial. Unless you choose to apply Change Options , operations applied in edit the material mode apply to the one material only.
  • You can press " Edit views ," change to a different view, then press " OK " to exit views mode and go back to edit mode with the changed-to view shown.
  • Edit views mode works on all materials with the same material mark. Any changes to material views made in isolation are automatically applied to all materials with the same material mark. Views that are selectable on the view list in material isolation's edit views mode become the views that are shown on member details after Detail Submaterial .
