To add a precast hollow core :

Two points locate the workline and span of a precast hollow core member. It does not matter which point you locate first. The left end (origin) of the member is independent of the order in which you locate the points. If both work points are at the same " End elevation " (same global Z coordinate ) and the member's " Rotation " is zero, the precast hollow core is flat, with its top surface at that elevation . If the two work points are at different elevations, the precast hollow core slopes.

A precast hollow core should be added in a plan view .

A precast hollow core can be added in Modeling by pressing F2 to open the Member Type Selection window, then double-clicking " Precast Hollow Core ."

For more information related to locating work points, familiarize yourself with the following help topics: Offset Controls for point location , Locators , Locate menu, point location target ( ), status line , X-Y-Z display , global coordinate system .

------ Attributes ------

Width: Assuming that " Rotation " is set to ' 0 ' and that you are looking at the left end or the right end of the precast hollow core, this is the horizontal distance (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) between the edges of the top surface or bottom surface.

" Width " is measured perpendicular to the member line (or span) of the precast hollow core. The span of the member is established by the work points you located when you added the member.

Depth: Assuming that " Rotation " is set to ' 0 ' and the precast hollow core is not sloping, this is the vertical distance (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) from the top surface of the precast hollow core to the bottom surface of the precast hollow core.

" Depth " together with " Hollow diameter " and " Bottom to hollow core " set how the hollows are vertically centered.

Hollow diameter: A distance (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) that sets the diameter of each of the hollows.

The " Hollow diameter " must be less than the " Depth ," or you will not be permitted to close this window by pressing " OK ."

Hollow spacing: Assuming that " Rotation " is set to ' 0 ' and that you are looking at the left end of the precast hollow core, this is the horizontal distance (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) between the corners of the top surface or bottom surface.

The hollows are centered with respect to the " Width " of the precast hollow core. Consequently, the number of hollows that you get depends on the " Hollow spacing " and the " Width ."

Bottom to hollow center: Assuming that " Rotation " is set to ' 0 ' and that you are looking at the left end or the right end of the precast hollow core, this is the vertical distance (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) from the bottom of the precast hollow core to the center of a hollow.

The " Bottom to hollow center " must be greater than half the " Hollow diameter ," or you will not be permitted to close this window by pressing " OK ."

Entering a " Bottom to hollow center " that is half of the " Depth " vertically centers the hollows.

End elevation: The elevation (in the primary dimension " Units " or other units ) of the work point at this end of the precast hollow core. For a non-sloping hollow core, both the left and right end elevations are the same.

A precast hollow core has two exact points , whose elevation you can change by changing the member's left- and/or right-end " End elevation ."

origin symbol identifies a member's left end when you hover its member line .

To determine the precast hollow core end elevation in the 3D model , use Construction Line Add or a similar tool, select EXPT as the Locate option, then snap the point location target to the work point at the end of the member. The Z coordinate reported in the X-Y-Z display tells you the elevation at the snapped-to exact point.
