Embed Layout Add Tool

Tool summary :

  • Lets you add angle or channel embeds that have been predefined on the Embed Schedule .
  • The Embed Layout AddTool is an icon that you can add to a toolbar in Modeling . It can be found in the " Command group " called ' Model - Parametric ' for Toolbar Configuration (classic) or Ribbon Editor (lightning).
  • Layout points for a continuous end-to-end layout must be in the same plane.
  • Multiple points located along the same line result in splices at each point that is along the line and between the two end points of the line. An example of this is shown in the VIDEO .
  • Each embed that you add using this tool is a member that is independent of the beam you selected when adding the embed.
  • To begin adding the embed member(s), you can click the Embed Layout Add Tool icon.
  • See, on this page, Layout preferences and Member add layout: Embed . These are the windows that open when you use the Embed Layout Add Tool .

VIDEO Angle embeds are added to a concrete wall by locating one point at the corner of the wall, six in-line points where the joists intersect the wall, and a final point at the opposite corner of the wall. The " Splice clearance " that is entered applies to the six inside points where the joists intersect the wall, resulting in a total of seven angles between the eight located points. An embed is then added along a different wall as a single, continuous angle, this time by locating two points. INCL was used to locate all points. (Recorded in SDS2 Detailing , v2018.)

The Layout preferences window :

Minimum length ( min ): A distance . The Embed Layout Add Tool will not generate an angle or channel section that are less than this length unless it is at a corner. See the example .

Start setback ( sb1 ): The distance from the first point you located to the nearest channel or angle section. See the example .

Splice clearance ( splc ): A distance between the ends of the material sections.

Maximum length ( max ): A distance . The Embed Layout Add Tool will not create angle or channel sections that are less than this length unless it is at a corner and the " Corner operation " is set to ' Mitre '. See the example .

End setback ( sbk_e ): The distance from the last point you located to the nearest channel or angle section. See the example .

Corner option ( crn ): Mitre or Butt . This applies to the corners of a layout.

' Mitre ' fits the angles or channels together at an angle. When you perform such an operation at the corner, one or both of the sections that are mitred may, in some cases, be made slightly longer than the specified " Maximum length ."

' Butt ' results in the abutting of the backs of the angles or channels at the corner.
