Show Sheet ( Modeling )

Tool summary :

  • Opens the Drawing Editor and shows the detail sheet or gather sheet on which resides the detail of the member or material you select in Modeling .
  • If the member or material you click is not on a sheet, you will be notified that such is the case.
  • Show Sheet can also be used to show the detail sheet of a group member .
  • For any sheet that Show Sheet opens, full Drawing Editor functionality is available to you for editing that sheet (or other drawings), without restrictions.

   Step-by-step instructions (Detail Sheets) :

These instructions are for showing a detail sheet. Show Sheet can also be used to show a gather sheet as described here . Step 1 (preselection) is optional. If you don't do step 1, in-tool selection is required -- see note 1 .

Tip: Model > Status Display > General status options > On sheet can be used to display members on sheets in a color of your choice. In this example, they are blue.
1 (optional) : Place the mouse pointer ( ) on the one member whose sheet you want to view, then left-click ( Select ). It changes to the " Primary selection color " (green). 
2 . Invoke Show Sheet . If you didn't do step 1, see note 1 before going to step 3.
3 . Show Sheet starts the Drawing Editor and shows you the detail sheet of the selected member.

   Step-by-step instructions (Gather Sheets) :

Show Sheet can be used in Modeling to start the Drawing Editor and show the gather sheet of the selected material. It can also be used to show detail sheets as described here . Full Drawing Editor functionality is available to you for editing that sheet (or other drawings), without restrictions. Step 1 (preselection) is optional. If you don't do step 1, in-tool selection is required -- see note 1 .

Note 1: If you didn't do step 1 (preselection), Show Sheet activates Select One Item mode so that you can left-click ( Select ) the one member/material whose detail/gather sheet you want to view. This prompting also occurs when more than one member or a material (rather than one member) was selected in step 1.

Note 2: To invoke Show Sheet , in Modeling ...

Method 1 : Click the Show Sheet icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Show Sheet .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Show Sheet can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

Note 3: If the member of material has not been placed on a sheet, you are notified of such by a warning dialog that says, " This was not on any sheet ."
