Bolt Add Single Ply Command

Adds a bolt through a hole selected in a single material in modeling.

1 . Invoke Add Bolts to Single Ply using one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1: Click the Add Bolts to Single Ply icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be found on the Material page > Fasteners section. Proceed to step 2.
Method 2: Preselect the hole(s) you want to add bolt(s) to. This enables the Holes contextual page. Click the Add Bolts to Single Ply icon found in the Fasteners section. Skip step 2.

Alternative: Add Bolts to Single Ply can also be invoked using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the Add Bolts to Single Ply icon, which is pictured above. Proceed to step 2.

2 . Add Bolts to Single Ply prompts you to use Select Item(s) mouse bindings to select the one or more holes. Press the Enter key or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the context menu to signal to Add Bolts to Single Ply that you are done selecting the hole(s).

3 . Add Bolts to Single Ply adds the bolts, and the status line prompts you to verify the bolt direction. Left-click ( Yes ) to accept the bolt direction. Right-click ( No ) reverses the direction. Right-click a second time will end the command without adding bolts.

4 . The Bolt Edit window opens. " OK " on that window generates the bolts. " Cancel " stops the bolts from being added.

  • You might want to use this tool to add anchor bolts to a column base plate. If you want a special designation for the anchor bolts, you can define the bolts in the Bolt Specifications and then select the anchor bolt as the " Bolt type ."
  • Bolts may be input several at a time. Just select the holes that you want the bolts to be inserted into. The selected holes must have the same diameter and, if they are slots, the same rotation. The length of the inserted bolts is determined by the thickness of the material the holes go through. If the holes have different depths, the depths and grips of the bolts are based on the hole with the greatest depth.
  • You cannot add bolts to a member that has its " Model completed " date set.
  • If you want to bolt two materials together, use Add Bolts instead of Add Bolts to Single Ply . This tool is for inserting bolts into holes in a single ply of material.
