Edit Welds ( Modeling )

   To edit one weld or multiple welds :

These instructions are for using Edit Welds in Modeling to change or review the settings of one weld or of multiple welds. You must do either step 1c (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a : Make sure that the box for " Welds " is checked on the Display Options window. Display the surface that the weld is on in one of the three solid forms . And Zoom In sufficiently close so that welds are visible in your current view.

1b (tip) : Set the selection filter to ' Welds ' or ' Legacy Default ' if you plan to review/edit a number of welds or if you plan to do step 1c and select connection bolts.

Select Items bindings (step 1c)

1c (optional) : In Select Items mode with an appropriate selection filter selected, left-click ( Select ) one weld, or draw an area box or hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select+ ) several 3D welds . You can also use Advanced Selection to select welds. If you are editing only one weld, the easiest way to do so is to just double-click the weld.

Warning: If you double-click a connection weld with the selection filter set to ' Default ', the connection components window opens, not the Edit Weld window. The Edit Weld window opens when the selection filter is ' Welds '.

2 . Skip this step and go to step 4 if you double-clicked a weld in step 1c. Otherwise, invoke Edit Welds using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 ( with nearby item highlighted or selected ): In Select Items mode, right-click ( Menu ) then choose " Edit Other " on the context menu and select the weld that you want. Skip step 3 and go to step 4.

Method 2 : While Weld Mode mouse bindings are active, place the mouse pointer on the weld you want to edit, then left-click ( Edit ). Skip step 3 and go to step 4.

Method 3 : Click the icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Weld ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

3 . Skip this step if you already selected weld(s) in step 1c or in step 2, methods 1 or 2. You are required to perform this step if you did not select anything in step 1, or if, for example, a material was selected.

Select Item(s) bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect) : Edit Welds prompts you to use Select Item(s) mouse bindings to select the weld(s) you want to edit. To select multiple welds, draw an area box or hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select+ ). When you are done selecting the welds, press the Enter key or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the menu .

4 . The Edit Weld window opens. On it are the settings of the weld you selected. Generally it is best to change options in the order in which they appear on the window.

Be aware that the contents of a field are gray if there are mixed entries to that field. You can edit such a field.

The Edit Weld window is read-only if any weld of the multiple welds you are attempting to edit is associated with a member that has its " Model completed " date set.

4a . Press the " OK " button when you are done making changes to the window.

5 . The weld(s) are regenerated per the choices you made to the Edit Weld window in step 4. The mouse bindings that were active before you invoked Edit Weld are again active. The affected member(s) are marked for detailing.

Note: A weld symbol for the weld you have just edited will be drawn on the member detail of the affected member when you Detail Members .
