" Top/Bottom Moment Haunch Stiffener " connection design locks

A top and/or bottom haunch for a eurocode moment end plate connection can be designed per " Top/Bottom Moment Haunch Stiffener " locks.

(W beam, eurocode moment end plate connection, to a W column)
(" Connection design method " = ' EUROCODE 3 ' or ' EUROCODE 3 UK ')
(" Section size " of beam = a wide flange )
(" Input connection type " = ' End plate ' or ' User defined ')
(" Moment type " = ' Bolted ')
(" Haunch location " = ' Top ' or ' Bottom ' or ' Both ')
" Top/Bottom Moment Haunch Stiffener "
( for moment end plates )

with connection design locks for the top and bottom flange. However, the bottom flange locks will be populated with null values (e.g., distances of zero) and only the top haunch will, at least initially, be designed. leaf ', you will get a Top is set to '" Haunch location "If, for example,

User Defined Connections: Settings that are locked ( ) in a user defined connection file will automatically be locked on a member edit window for which that file is the " Input connection type ." You can, if you so choose, manually lock additional settings on the member edit window, and your changes will be retained, through multiple processes, so long as you do not change to a different connection then switch back to the original user defined connection.

Beam Edit: To change a setting, first set it to locked ( ). Related settings that are unlocked ( ) may be updated, and the " Left/Right end limit state " calculations will be updated. Settings that are locked ( ) will not be changed by connection design , even if doing so might prevent a connection failure.

Locks not dimensioned or called out on the drawing are marked ( not depicted ).

  Top/Bottom Moment Haunch Stiffener

Material ( not depicted ): The wide flange material to be used for the haunch. For example, ' 533x210x92UB '. The material you enter here must exist in the local shape file, or validation will not accept your entry. To enter an section size, you can type in the section size that you want, or you can press the "file cabinet" browse button ( ) and double-click a section size from the list of available wide flange materials that are found in the local shape file . If this field is left unlocked ( ), the material that is entered here automatically is the " Section size " of the beam.

Length on beam face ( length on beam ): The length of the edge of the haunch that welds to the beam's flange. This distance is measured parallel with the supported beam on whose edit window the haunch is specified. See the example .

Length on column face ( length on column ): The length of the edge of the haunch that welds to the column. This distance is measured parallel with the supporting column whose web or flange the moment end plate bolts to. See the example .

Stiffener web welds

Weld to beam ( web to bm ): The fillet weld size (a distance in mm) for shop welding the web of the haunch to the flange of the beam. See the example .

Weld to end plate ( web to endpl ): The fillet weld size (a distance in mm) for shop welding the web of the haunch to the end plate. See the example .

Stiffener flange welds

Weld to beam ( flg to bm ): The fillet weld size (a distance in mm) for shop welding the flange of the haunch to the flange of the beam. See the example .

Weld to end plate ( flg to endpl ): The fillet weld size (a distance in mm) for shop welding the flange of the haunch to the end plate. See the example .
