Mark Member for Detailing ( Modeling )

Tool summary :

  • Marks members in the model that you want to be automatically selected when you Detail Members .
  • Since members in Modeling are automatically marked for detailing when they are created / altered, you probably won't need to use this tool very often.
  • However, you might want to use this tool before you Detail Members if you have made changes to Fabricator Settings and want them applied to member details.
  • To mark one or multiple members for Detail Members on a member edit window, click to for " Marked for detailing ."

   Step-by-step instructions :

The following instructions assume that you are in Modeling using a 3-button mouse while in a view that shows the members you want to mark for detailing. You must do either step 1b (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a (tip) : If you are going to do step 1b, you may want to set the selection filter to ' Member ' or display members in stick form.

Select Items bindings (step 1b)

1b (optional) : In Select Items mode with the selection filter set to ' Default ' or ' Legacy Default ' or ' Beams ' or etc., use the Select or Select + mouse bindings (or draw an area box or Select Members by Number ) to select the member(s) that you want to mark for detailing. When selected, the members will be displayed in the " Primary selection color ," which by default is green. Use Select- if you want to deselect items.

2 . Invoke Mark for Detailing using any one (1) of the following methods:

Methods 1, 2 & 3 : A Mark Member for Detailing icon can be added to your toolbar (classic) or ribbon (lightning). The icon, keyboard shortcut or context menu command can be found in the group named ' Model -- Member '. For lightning, Customize Interface is used to configure ribbons, keyboards, the context menu and modes.

Method 4 : Choose Model > Member > Process > Mark for Detailing (classic)

Method 5 (you must preselect -- 1b -- to do this) : Right-click ( Menu ), choose " Mark members for processing " on the context menu ,

3 . Skip this step if you already selected members in step 1b.

Select Item(s) bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect): The status line prompts you to " Select members to mark ." Use Select Item(s) Mode options to Select or Select + one or more members. You can also select members by drawing an area box or using the Model Tree . Press the Enter key or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the context menu when you are done selecting members and are ready to go to step 4.

4 . Mark Members for Detailing marks for detailing all members that you selected in step 1b (or 3a). This means that they will automatically be selected on the selection dialog that appears when you Detail Members .

Tip: Use the Status to display members which have been marked for detailing.
