Field Bolts For Members by Sequence (data from 3D model)

Tool summary :

  • Reports the number of field bolts of a particular length, diameter, etc. that are needed to erect all members with the same piecemark that are in a particular sequence.
  • Different sequences appear on different pages in the report. Two members in different sequences may have the same piecemark if " Break major marks apart by " is set to something other than ' Sequence '.
  • In the example below, field bolts are listed on supported members. If ' Supporting ' had been selected for " Field bolts listed on which members " before the model was Processed , then field bolts would be listed for the supporting members.

This report is the same as a Field Bolts For Members , except that in this report field bolts for different sequences appear on separate pages.
  • See, on this page, columns on the report and the step-by-step instructions .

Columns on the report (also see example ) :

Report writer links are based on the data source fields for the Report Writer's Field Bolts For Members By Sequence , which you can Open in the reports/SDS2 file folder.

Sequence: The sequence that the field bolts listed in the following columns are in.

Sequences and zones: When a member is assigned a sequence, it is also assigned to a zone. Many sequences may be assigned to one zone, but different zones cannot be assigned the same sequence. As a consequence of this, each physical member is in one sequence and in one zone. The Zone and Sequence setup table tells you which sequences are under which zones.

Report Writer: Member.ErectionSequence

Line: The number of the line assigned to this group of field bolts. Each group of field bolts in a line is the same length and diameter and is associated with a distinct piecemark.

Piecemark: The piecemark ( member piecemark ) of the members in this sequence fastened by this group of field bolts at the construction site (the sequence is listed at the top of each page of this report). If ' Supported ' is selected for " Field bolts listed on which members ," then field bolts are listed for the supported members that were added (or for some other reason underwent Process and Create Solids ) since that option was selected. If ' Supporting ' is selected, supporting members are listed.

Report Writer: Member.Piecemark

Count: The total number of field bolts on all members in this sequence that share the particular piecemark reported on this line. In other words, this is the total quantity of field bolts needed to erect all members in this sequence that share this piecemark. If, for instance, three members in this sequence share this same piecemark, and each of these members has four field bolts, the reported count is 12.

Diameter: The diameter of each bolt in the group of field bolts reported on this line.

diameter

Report Writer: MemberMaterial.Bolt.DiameterDimension

Type: The material grade of each of the field bolts specified on this line. This column also includes the bolt type if ' Bolt Material & Type ' is selected for Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > Bolt Detailing Settings > " Bolt designation shown in reports ."

Report Writer: MemberMaterial.Bolt.BoltTypeDescription

Length: The distance from the inside of the bolt head to the end of the shaft. The program does not include the head thickness in its calculation of bolt length because head thickness may vary among bolt manufacturers.

Head Washer: The number of washers under the head of the field bolt and their type ( HD or PL or RPL or FL or BVL or DTI or HLS ). If this cell is left blank, then there is no washer under the head of the field bolt.

Nut Washer: The number of washers under the nut of the field bolt and their type ( HD or PL or RPL or FL or BVL or DTI or HLS ). If this cell is left blank, then there is no washer under the nut of the field bolt.

How to output a Field Bolts For Members by Sequence :

Generally field bolts are shipped loose to the construction site. A Field Bolts For Members by Sequence report is specifically designed for situations where members are fabricated, shipped or erected by sequence.

1 . Before output of this report:

1a (optional) : Changing the setup option " Field bolts listed on which members " changes whether the supported or supporting member is listed first for each framing situation described on the report. Be sure to " Process and Create Solids " all members if you change this setting.

1b (optional) : If you want only the steel grade to be listed in this report for the column " Type ," then set the setup option " Bolt designation shown in reports " to ' Bolt material only '.

1c : This report is compiled from the 3D model. When you Process & Create Solids , you effectively update the model for your current Job . You can then output a Field Bolts For Members by Sequence that will be up to date.

2 . Use any one (1) of the following methods to begin output of this report:

Method 1 : Home > Reports > System Reports > Field Bolts > Field Bolts For Members by Sequence .

Method 2 : Click the Field Bolts For Members by Sequence icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Reports ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning). Ribbon configuration is done using Customize Interface .

Method 3 : If " Modeling layout style " or " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Reports > Field Bolts > Field Bolts For Members by Sequence.

3 . The Output Configuration window opens, allowing you to change where you " Send output to " (for example, to " File " or " Screen " or " Printer ").

Alternative 1 : Press " OK " to output the report. Go to step 4.

Alternative 2 : Press " Cancel " to end this operation without generating the report. Do not continue.

4 . The Field Bolts For Members by Sequence report is output to the device/ location that you designated.

Note: If you output to the report viewer (" Screen "), you can now review the report on screen, then optionally print it or output it to disk (see report viewer ).
