Navigation Mode
Tool summary :
- Lets you invoke -- via your mouse -- commands for navigating a 2D drawing.
- Modes can be reconfigured by users in Mode Configuration . This documentation explains the defaults for this mode.
- To activate Navigation Mode :
Method 1 : Click the Navigation Mode icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Navigate -- Navigation Mode ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Navigate > Navigation Mode .
Method 3, 4 or 5 : Navigation Mode can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
- Note: If you have nested this mode inside another mode using Mode Configuration , you can invoke this mode's mouse bindings from within that other mode by clicking the appropriate mouse button. To bring back the mouse bindings of the original mode, use Mode Return (or Esc ).

- Navigation Mode lets you simultaneously invoke and perform operations such as Zoom In and Zoom Out and Pan with a drag and release using the appropriate mouse button and modifier key. After the drag, when you release the mouse button, the operation is done.
- Navigation Mode may be invoked from another mode. To Mode Return back to the invoking mode, press the Esc key.
