   Warning (for symbols) :

  • If, in your current Job , you File > Verify Reference Point to change the insertion point of a symbol that has been placed into drawings in that Job, that symbol's reference point location will remain the same in those drawings, but the symbol itself will shift its location with respect to that reference point. To be precise, the symbol's location in all of those drawings will shift the exact scaled distance (but the opposite direction) that you moved the reference point.

   Step-by-step instructions :

Begin this operation in the Drawing Editor while accessing a job standard detail or global standard detail or member detail or erection view or reference drawing or symbol or global symbol . If your current drawing is a member detail , you should Unshorten that drawing before performing this operation.

1 . Invoke Verify Reference Point using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Verify Reference Point icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' File ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose File > Verify Reference Point .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Verify Reference Point can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

Method 6 : Invoke Save Reuse or Save As on a standard detail, then check the box for " Change reference point ."

2 . The status line prompts, "Verify the reference point?" A reference point symbol identifies the reference point's location on the drawing. Yes-No mouse bindings become active.

Alternative 1 : Left-click ( Yes ) if the reference point is where you want it, and you want to end this operation. Do not continue.

Alternative 2 : Right-click ( No ) to relocate the reference point. Go to step 3.

3 . Locate - Pan - Return mouse bindings become active along with various Locate options.


Alternative 1 : Select the Locate icon that you want (if it's not selected already), then place the mouse pointer ( ) so the point location target snaps to the on-screen location where you want the reference point moved to, then left-click ( Locate ). Follow the instructions in step 2.

Alternative 2 : Right-click ( Return ) to cancel this operation and keep everything as it was before step 1.
