System Main Material to USER Main Material ( Home & 3D & 2D)

Tool summary :

Lists members in the model whose main material is SYSTEM. Select on that list those members whose main material you want to be changed to USER.
' ' " Main material " can be made ' ' on beams, columns, vertical braces or horizontal braces.
Usually this change is made to stop main material from being redesigned during Process and Create Solids .
USER main material is not altered during connection design , whereas connection design copes or bevel cuts system main material as needed to accommodate the connection.

Step-by-step instructions :

1 . Do any of the following to invoke System Main Material to USER Main Material :

Method 1 : Home > Utilities > Utility Functions > Change Options > System Main Material to USER Main Material .

Method 2 : Click the System Main Material to USER Main Material icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Edit -- Change Options ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 3 : If the " Modeling layout style " or " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Edit > Change Options > System Main Material to USER Main Material .

Method 4, 5 & 6 : System Main Material to USER Main Material can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

2 . After you invoke this Change option, a selection dialog opens. On it is a list of members that have system main material. Since you cannot perform this operation on members that have their " Model complete date " set, such members do not appear on the list. Each member is listed by its member number [num] and piecemark.

When you press " OK ," the " Main material " of the selected members is reset to '

2a (optional) : Note that a " Print " button is available on this selection dialog so that you can print the list of members with system main material if you like. To list all members with system main material, you can " Show All ."

2b : Select the member(s) you want to have graphical (user) main material, then press " OK. "

3 . Change designates the " Main material " as ' ' (graphical) for each of the member(s) you selected in step 1.

Note: The next time you Process & Create Solids , that program will not alter the main material of the selected members (even if, for instance, connections have not yet been designed for members that frame into those members).
