Purpose of Job/Fabricator Settings (Project Settings) :

Job or Fabricator Settings ( Project Settings ) lets the user of a full-featured SDS2 program customize the program to meet the special needs of particular fabricators or to design connections according to the engineering requirements of particular projects. These options help speed the input of a Job and ensure consistency in the use of materials and the application of design principles.

Two key concepts for understanding Setup :

Concept 1 : Setup information is divided into two sections:

Job Settngs , and Fabricator Settings are the two distinct parts of Setup.

Job Settngs generally relate to the engineering standards defined for a particular construction project.

Fabricator Settings generally have to do with the shop practices of fabricators.

Concept 2 : Setup options affect different parts of a project in a full-featured SDS2 program :

Some setup options affect the selections that are available to users of a full-featured SDS2 program (on menus or selection dialogs) when they input specifications for members and materials.

Certain setup options affect Process and Create Solids in a full-featured SDS2 program .

Other setup options are applied during automatic detailing in a full-featured SDS2 program .

Assuming that your current project ( current Job and current Fabricator ) originated from a full-featured SDS2 program, the information that Site Planning can review in that project is directly affected by setup options.

Job/Fabricator settings that affect fields on SDS2 windows :

Job / Fabricator Settings that Affect Fields on SDS2 Windows
Option   Location   Effect on Specification Entry
" Units "   Drawing Presentation  Sets units of measure for entry of distances. Distances can also be entered in other units .
" Dimension precision "   Drawing Presentation  Sets precision for entry of distances to fields in Site Planning.
Steel Grade:
W , Pl , Tee , C , L , Pipe , Tube
Job Settings Set steel grades that users of a full-featured SDS2 program can select on, for example, material windows.
" Maximum sequences "    Job Settings Number of sequences your Job is to be divided into. By default, sequences are whole numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.), but sequences may be given names.
Sequence Names     Job Settings Sets the names of sequences that can be applied to members.

: Using reports to review Job/Fabricator Options

You don't have to be at a computer to review Job/Fabricator Options . You can review them in a printed report.

A Fabricator Settings Report summarizes the Fabricator Options that are currently selected.

The Job Settings Report summarizes the Job Options that are currently selected.
