  Step-by-step instructions :

Begin the edit operation in a Modeling view where the crane is visible. If the purpose for editing the crane is to change its placement , your view should show the crane placement that you want to move the crane to. You can do either step 1 (preselection) or step 3a (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 (optional) : Select the crane you want. There's multiple ways to do this. Note that if you use method three (double-click), you skip steps 2 and 3.

Select Items mouse bindings

Method 1 : Move your mouse pointer ( ) so that it hovers the crane that you want. If User and Site Options > Modeling > " Show balloon description " is turned on, the balloon help will identify the crane's " Name ." Left-click ( Select ) to select the crane. Go to step 2.

Method 2 : Move your mouse pointer ( ) so that it hovers the crane that you want. Right-click ( Menu ) and choose " Select Other " on the context menu and select the crane's name. Go to step 2.

Method 3 : Hover the crane with your mouse pointer ( ) so that it (the crane) is highlighted. Double-click the crane. Skip steps 2 and 3; go to step 4.

2 (if you didn't do method 3) : Invoke Edit Crane using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Edit Crane icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Cranes ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Crane > Edit Crane .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Edit Crane can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

3 . Skip this step if you already selected a crane in step 1.

Select One Item bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect) : The status line prompts you to use Select One Item mode options to " Locate crane ." Left-click ( Select ) the crane that you want.

4 . The Tower Crane window or Crawler Crane or Truck Crane window opens. Which window opens depends on the type of crane you selected in step 1 or step 3a. Make the changes you want to the window, then ...

Alternative 1 : Press the " OK " button to continue. Go to step 5.

Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to end this operation without changing the crane.

5 . If you choose to " Change placement " (any crane) and/or " Change jib orientation " (tower crane) or " Change boom orientation " (crawler crane) or " Change boom orientation " (truck crane), you will be prompted to make a placement selection and/or locate a point in the model. Once you have made the placement selection and/or located the point, your changes to the crane will become permanent.

mouse bindings

Note: If you are prompted to locate a point and you decline to do so by doing a right-click ( Return ) or hitting the Esc key, you will end this operation without changing the crane placement.

A special case: If, in step 4, you pressed the " Lift Config " button and then made changes on the Lift Configuration window for this crane, or if you selected a different crawler crane " Configuration ," your changes may affect the " Status " of lifts, and a window like the following may open:

Crane "XXX" has been modified, and the performance of the lifts assigned to its placements may have changed. Do you wish to remove all assigned lifts? You may instead choose to only remove the lifts which are now failed.

"All" removes all lifts that have been assigned to the placements associated with the crane that you just edited. To add new lifts, you can use Assign Member Lifts or related tools.

"Failed" removes only those lifts that have failed due to the changes you made in step 4 .

"Close" simply closes this window, keeping intact the changes you made to the crane. Since the performance of lifts may have changed as a result, you may want to use Manage Lifts to review the lifts for each of the affected crane placements.
