Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet (data from 3D model)

Tool summary :

  • Reports the quantity of field bolts per length/diameter and member piecemark and zone. You can select multiple sheets.
  • Field bolts in different zones are listed on separate pages. The following example of a page lists members found in zone 2. Members in zone 1 are on page 1.

Unlike a Field Bolts For Members by Zone (which includes all members), this report includes only those members for which " List in bill of material " is checked.
  • Even though you select members for inclusion in this report by selecting the sheet on which they are placed, the data on those members originates from the 3D model, not from the bill of material. Output a Field Bolt Listing From Sheet BOM to get data from the bill of material.
  • See columns on the report for an explanation of each of the columns that appear on this report. Also on this help page are step-by-step instructions .

Columns on the report (also see the example ) :

Line: The number of the line assigned to this group of field bolts. Each group of field bolts in a line is the same length and diameter and is associated with a distinct piecemark.

Piecemark: The piecemark ( member piecemark ) of the members in this zone fastened by this group of field bolts at the construction site (the zone is listed at the top of each page of this report). If ' Supported ' is selected for " Field bolts listed on which members ," then field bolts are listed for the supported members that were added (or for some other reason underwent Process and Create Solids ) since ' Supported ' was selected. If ' Supporting ' is selected, supporting members are listed.

Report Writer: Member.Piecemark

Count: The total number of field bolts on all members in this zone with the particular piecemark reported on this line. In other words, this is the total quantity of field bolts needed to erect all members with this piecemark. If, for instance, there are three members with the same piecemark in this zone, and each of these members has four field bolts, the reported count is 12.

Diameter: The diameter of each bolt in the group of field bolts reported on this line.

diameter

Report Writer: MemberMaterial.Bolt.DiameterDimension

Type: The material grade of each of the field bolts specified on this line. This column also includes the bolt type if ' Bolt Material & Type ' is selected for Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > Bolt Detailing Settings > " Bolt designation shown in reports ."

Report Writer: MemberMaterial.Bolt.BoltTypeDescription

Length: The distance from the inside of the bolt head to the end of the shaft. The program does not include the head thickness in its calculation of bolt length because head thickness may vary among bolt manufacturers.

Report Writer: MemberMaterial.Bolt.LengthDimension

Head Washer: The number under the head of the field bolt and their type ( HD or PL or RPL or FL or BVL or DTI or HLS ). If this cell is left blank, then there is no washer under the head of the field bolt.

How to output a Field Bolts For Members by Zone, by Sheet :

A Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet may be used to evaluate how many bolts of what type are needed to erect members with a particular piecemark in a particular zone.

1 . Before output of this report:

1a : This report is compiled from the 3D model. When you Process & Create Solids , you effectively update the model for your current Job . You can then output a Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet that will be up to date.

1b : Since you select members for inclusion in this report by the sheet they are on, details need to have been placed onto detail sheets before you can output this report. Be aware that the report counts all field bolts of those members on selected sheets which have " List in bill of material " checked. This means that if the same member is on the same sheet twice and " List in bill of material " is checked for both members, the report doubles the field bolt count -- which is probably not what you want. The report also doubles the field bolt count if a member is on two sheets and " List in bill of material " is checked for both.

1c (optional) : If you want only the steel grade to be listed in this report for the column " Type ," then set the setup option " Bolt designation shown in reports " to ' Bolt material only '.

Tip: If you want to include only members that have been placed on particular sheets, print out a Sheet List by Sheet as a guide to help you select which sheets you want.

Warning: If you change Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > Bolt Detailing Settings > " Field bolts listed on which members ," you must Process and Create Solids all members in your current Job if you want this report to be fully up to date.

2 . Use any one (1) of the following methods to begin output of the report:

Method 1 : Home > Reports > System Reports > Field Bolts > Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet .

Method 2 : Click the Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Reports ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning). For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

Method 3 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Reports > Field Bolts > Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet.

3 . A selection dialog opens. On it is a selection list of the detail sheets in your current Job.

 DS_1
 DS_2
 DS_3
 DS_4
 DS_5

Optional: Press the button under " Destination " to redirect the report's output destination. In this example, " Screen " indicates that output is to the report viewer .

Alternative 1 : Select the detail sheets you want the report to be based on, then press " OK ." Go to step 4.

Alternative 2 : Press " Cancel " to end this operation without generating the report. Do not continue.

4 . The Field Bolts For Members by Zone, Select by Sheet is output.

Note: If you output to the report viewer (" Screen "), you can now review the report on screen then optionally print it or output it to disk (see report viewer ).
