The Hide Items window

  • If you press the " Hide... " button when you Open a detail sheet, gather sheet or erection sheet, " Detail complete " is the only option that appears on the Hide Items window.

Step-by-step instructions :

1 . Invoke any of the following:

2 . A selection dialog opens. On it is a selection list of member piecemarks or submaterial marks.

2a : Press the " Hide... " button.

3 . The Hide Items window opens. All classes of items that are not selected on this window (or have their check box not checked) can potentially be displayed on the selection list that appeared in step 2.

3a (optional) : To hide items on the selection list, select or check ( ) classifications on the Hide Items window.

3b (optional) : To potentially increase the number of items listed, deselect or uncheck ( ) their classifications on the Hide Items window.

Alternative 1 : Press the " OK " button to apply the Hide Items options you selected to the list of members or submaterials.

Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to close this window and cause the selection list to remain unchanged.


Default settings on the Hide Items window :


General Routing Category & Miscellaneous Sheet

-------------- Member type ---------------

Members type: Group Members and/or Beams and/or Columns and/or Vertical Braces and/or Horizontal Braces and/or Joists and/or Stairs and/or Miscellaneous are the types of members you can select for hiding on the selection dialog. These options apply to member selection lists only -- they do not apply to submaterial selection lists.

Example: Invoke Edit Member by Piecemark . On the member selection dialog, press the " Hide ... " button and, on this window, select only the member type ' Beams ' then press " OK. " The piecemarks of beams will no longer be listed on the member selection dialog.

-------------- Material type ---------------

Material type: Wide Flange and/or Channels and/or Angles and/or Pipe and/or Tees and/or Tubes and/or Plate (see note) and/or Cold Formed Channel and/or Cold Formed Z are material types you can select for hiding on the selection dialog. Hiding by material type may be done on member and submaterial selection lists . For members, the materials listed apply to the member main material only.

Note: Non rolled sections such as round bars, square bars, etc. -- as well as plates -- are included under the ' Plate ' classification.

Example 1: Invoke Edit Member by Piecemark . On the member selection dialog, press the " Hide... " button and, on this window, select all options except ' Beams ' in the " Member " column. In this column, select all material types except ' Channel ', then press " OK " to close this window. Only the piecemarks of beams with channel main material are now listed on the member selection dialog.

Example 2: File > Open in the Drawing Editor and select ' Submaterials ' as the drawing type you want to be listed on the drawing selection dialog that opens. Press. Press the " Hide... " button and select all material types except ' Plate ', then press " OK " to close this window. Only the piecemarks of submaterial details of plates and miscellaneous materials such as round bars, square bars, etc. are now listed.

-------------- Sequence ---------------

Sequence: 1 and/or 2 and/or 3 and/or 4 and/or etc. The sequences listed in this column will be names instead of numbers if sequence names have been entered on the Sequence Definitions window. Hiding by sequence may be done on member or submaterial selection lists .

Example: File > Open in the Drawing Editor and select ' Details ' as the drawing type you want to be listed on the drawing selection dialog that opens. Press the " Hide... " button and, on this window in the " Member type " column, select all member types except ' Beams '. In this column, select all sequences except ' 2 '. After you press " OK " to close this window, only the piecemarks of beams in sequence 2 are listed on the member selection dialog.

-------------- Zone ---------------

Zone: 1 and/or 2 and/or 3 and/or 4 and/or etc. The zones listed in this column will be names instead of numbers if zone names have been entered on the Zone Definitions window. Hiding by zone may be done on member or submaterial selection lists .

Example: File > Open in the Drawing Editor and select ' Details ' as the drawing type you want to be listed on the drawing selection dialog that opens. Press the " Hide... " button and, in the " Zone " column on this window, select zone number ' 2 '. After you press " OK " to close this window, the piecemarks of all members in zone 2 will disappear from the member selection dialog.


General Routing Category & Miscellaneous Sheet

Route '. . '.: Each user-entered definition from Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > User Routing Configuration #1 is listed in this column. The default name for this routing configuration is " Mult. Cutting # ." Hiding by route definition may be done on member or submaterial selection lists .

Route '. . '.: Same as above , except that this applies to User Routing Configuration 2 . The default name for this routing configuration is " Labor Code ."

Route '. . '.: Same as above , except this applies to User Routing Configuration 4 . The default name for this routing configuration is " Remarks ."

Existing: or . This applies to member and submaterial selection lists . A submaterial is existing if it is a part of an existing member.

If this option is checked ( ), then the piecemarks of existing members will be hidden on the member or submaterial selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

When this option is not checked ( ), then existing members are permitted to be shown on the selection list.

Note: Existing members are members that exist in the 3D model but are not to be fabricated. Members that are marked as existing can undergo connection design but cannot be automatically detailed, nor will they be included on any reports that have to do with cataloging or ordering materials for fabrication purposes. Automatic connections can be generated on members framing into existing members.

If this option is checked ( ), then the members (including group members ) or submaterials whose details have been placed on a sheet will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members or submaterials whose details have been placed onto sheets are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Drawing Data: On sheet
Status Display: Detailing and processing > On sheet

If this option is checked ( ), then the members or submaterials that have not yet undergone auto detailing will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members or submaterials that have not yet been detailed are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Detail complete: or . If you press the " Hide... " button when you Open a detail sheet, gather sheet or erection sheet, " Detail complete " is the only option that appears on this window. The full range of other options appear for other types of drawings.

If this option is checked ( ), then the members or submaterials or sheets with the " Detail complete " flag set will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members or submaterials or sheets with the " Detail complete " flag set are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Note: detail complete dates are user-assigned to members in the 3D model using the Drawing Data window or Update Attributes . They may also be assigned whenever users Open a new drawing or Exit their current drawing in the Drawing Editor after making a change to their current drawing. Setting a detail complete date prevents a drawing from being Saved or automatically detailed .

If this option is checked ( ), then members or submaterials that are standard parts or material bolts will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members and submaterials that are standard parts are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

FYI: Standard parts are created using Fuse Material . Material bolts may be added to the model using Add Material or Add Miscellaneous Member .

If this option is checked ( ), then the piecemarks of submaterials that are member main material will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then submaterials that are member main materials are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Zero quantity material: or . You can get a submaterial detail with a quantity of zero, for example, if you Detail Submaterial and select a plate that is defined on the Base / Cap Plate Schedule but not used in the model. You can also detail any angle whose submaterial mark has been defined on one of the Clip Angle Piecemarks tables for a specific clip angle configuration .If you delete all instances of a material from the model, that material will become a zero quantity material, and its detail will be retained (if it has been detailed).

If this option is checked ( ), then submaterials with quantities of zero will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then submaterials with quantities of zero are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Note: The " Quantity " that is reported on the Drawing Data window for a zero-quantity material is ' 0 ' (zero) only if the detail is up to date. The " Release Submaterial Mark " utility can be used to delete the details of materials with zero quantity.

User created details: or . This applies to selection lists of members only. The user-created detail flag is set when a member detail is created using " New .. ." or Save As or Save Reuse .

If this option is checked ( ), then piecemarks of user-created member details will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), user-created member details are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Note: This option is checked, by default, for operations such as download CNC files by " Details " .

Detail required: or . This applies to both member and submaterial selection lists . Details are not up to date when a member or submaterial depicted on the detail has been modified in the 3D model since the time that member or submaterial was last detailed.

If this option is checked ( ), then members or submaterials with details that are not up to date will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members or submaterials with details that are not up to date are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Process required: or . This applies to member selection lists only -- it does not apply to submaterial lists. Members are marked for processing if they are flagged for any phase of Process and Create Solids , including the creation of 3D solids, assigning of piecemarks, etc. For more information, see when members are automatically marked for Process or marked for Create Solids .

If this option is checked ( ), then members that require Process and Create Solids will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members that require Process and Create Solids are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

If this option is checked ( ), then members which have " Galvanized " checked on their edit windows will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members that are set to be " Galvanized " are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

Model complete: or . This applies to member selection lists only.

If this option is checked ( ), then members whose " Model complete date " is set will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members that have a " Model complete date " entered are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

User assigned piecemarks: or . This applies to member selection lists only.

If this option is checked ( ), then members that have been assigned a user piecemark will be hidden on the selection list from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened. A user piecemark may be assigned to a member, for example, by typing the mark to the " Piecemark " field on a member's edit window.

If this option is not checked ( ), then members that have user piecemarks are permitted to be displayed on the selection list.

General Routing Category & Miscellaneous Sheet

This tab is enabled for Printing so that you can mask sheets by sheet size. Under this tab is a list of all sheet sizes that are available for Printing .

To open this tab, press the " Hide ... " button on the Select Sheets dialog for plotting.

Select those sheet sizes you don't want to print. Sheets of those sizes will be masked on the selection list for plotting from which this window ( Hide Items ) was opened.


To close this window :

"OK" closes the Hide Items window and applies your selections to the selection list displayed on the dialog from which you originally opened this window.

Note: In some cases, your changes will remain in effect even if you then exit the selection dialog. See default settings .

"Cancel" closes this window without saving any of the changes that you have made to it.

The entire selection list that was displayed on the selection dialog before you pressed the " Hide... " button will continue to be displayed.

"Reset" undoes all changes made to the Hide Items window since you first opened it. The Hide Items window remains open.
